Me… as a Teenager

Everybody wants to be independent. Everybody wants to rule their life. I too wanted to be independent, but, it was very difficult for me to go against my parents. I had to compromise many a times. But that was ok. After all, what ever they did was for my own good. Somewhere, in the corner of my heart I wanted to live as I wanted to.

When I was in college, career for me was a decent job, a 4 digit salary, a two wheeler and lots of shopping. It meant being free to do all that we want and all that we wanted was buy loads of clothes, a few pairs of sandals, unlimited junk food. I took up a Diploma course in Computer Science; again it was my parents who decided that. Once I completed the course, I took up a job at a school, teaching basics in computers to the kids. That was also fun. Then I worked at AOL, a call centre. This job was my real mentor. I learnt a lot of lessons of life; it answered a lot of confusing questions, gave me lot of good friends. Those three years were golden period of my life. If only I could get one more Chance to relive it.

I would depend on my parents a lot. Every decision of mine involved them. Even my marriage. My dad chose My Husband. My dad had decided the day he met Dhruva and his parents (that was even before I saw him). Though I was asked what I want, what my opinions are, the final decision was ultimately made by my parents. I was still searching for that Independence.
